Each book is hard covered, hand stitched and signed and numbered. The images are by Tessa and the text is written by Telfer Stokes. “Possibly having a memory of - but also wanting to find vestiges of Paris as experienced in the 50's - was at the back of the mind - also Atgets photographs of the streets at the turn of the century - but the spur to do this book was Walter Benjamin's "Arcade Project" and we both became interested in finding the Arcades that Benjamin had written about. It was recognising Baudelaire's "flaneur" in ourselves - the idea of wandering the city, by being slowly bombarded by sensation - but in this case although we did wander far and wide it was Passage Panorama that really retained the spirit of everything we were looking for - and that is where we set the book.” Click here to see some pictures from the book. |
